Rubrics
A rubric is a tool for teachers to grade students work and give them feedback based. A rubric consists of 1) a specific set of criteria, 2) rating scales/grading levels and 3) indicators for each criteria and level (as shown in the image below).
Advantages of using a rubric:
- Provide the rubric to your students beforehand so they know exactly what is expected from them and how they will be graded;
- It is easier to justify and communicate grades and feedback to your students;
- Multiple graders use the same indicators to grade the work from students.
Tools
Brightspace offers several options and tools to grade assignments with your rubric, where a grade is calculated automatically based on your assessment.
