Use of datasets through NIH USA (National Institutes of Health)

The National Institutes of Health provides existing datasets for reuse in line with their mission to promote research on disease and health. To use this data, the institution must provide a Federalwide Assurance (FWA). The FWA indicates that the institution handles personal research responsibly according to applicable guidelines, such as the Common Rule.

FSW researchers may use the FSW FWA if they would like to use it in the context of:

1. Research concerning the request/reuse of NIH datasets, AND
2. Research not falling under the WMO (Medical Research Involving Human Subject Act).

Only if these two criteria are met, the researcher may use the FSW FWA.
