The Expertise Centre for Teaching and Learning (ECOLe) is the go-to place for support for all faculty members at the Faculty of Humanities. We provide assistance with all questions related to didactics, professional development, and the use of digital tools in teaching.

We can help you get started using Brightspace and its integrated tools, AI in education or other IT application in your teaching. From Gradebook, peer review to portfolio tools, we’re happy to show you how different elements of the university’s digital learning environment can be used to support your educational needs.

We work together with lecturers on ensuring that the entire examination process goes smoothly. We can help you design and digitalise your exam and show you the ins and outs of the (new) assessment platform Ans. We are happy to answer all your questions concerning (digital) examination.

Do you want to use videos and/or podcasts in your education? We’d love to help you get started! The BKO team in ECOLe support lecturers in obtaining their University Teaching Qualification (UTQ/BKO). We support the entire process, from the intake interview and compilation of the BKO portfolio to the final qualification. This way, we make the BKO process clear and accessible for all lecturers at the Faculty of Humanities and the African Studies Centre.

Are you planning to innovate your education with or without IT? We’re here to advise! In some cases we can provide project support and funding. We also organise the annual Education Parade and other activities for lecturers.
