Marilieze Hoek

Hi! I’m Marilieze Hoek, 23 years old, a master’s student in Dutch Studies, and I’ve been working as a communication student assistant at Student and Educational Affairs (SOZ) since March 2024. Besides studying and working, you can often find me on a terrace in Leiden with my lovely friends, attending a concert (classical music has my heart), getting lost in a good book (or writing one myself ;)), and soaking up some sunshine outdoors. Leiden University feels like home to me; not only do I study here, but I also get to work here – and I really enjoy that. Since I get energy from meeting new people, I thought it would be a great challenge to – together with my colleague Elisa – run the JUL board this year. I look forward to meeting you all and having a great time together!

Elisa Smit

Hey! My name is Elisa, I’m 26 years old, and I studied Communication in The Hague. Since May 2024, I’ve been working as a communication officer at SOZ, where I happily use my creativity. In my free time, I love being active: riding motorcycles is a big passion, I practice piano, and I enthusiastically hit the slopes to learn snowboarding. I also enjoy going to terraces with my friends and proudly hold a board position at JUL. Always up for a new challenge and a good conversation. I look forward to meeting you all and doing things together. Hope to see you soon!

Evani Seymor

Hii! I’m Evani, 26 years old, and I’ve been working as a communication officer at the university for almost two years now. What I love about my job? The variety! I’m involved in all sorts of different projects, such as student wellbeing, interdisciplinary collaboration, University Elections, and Una Europa. Since December, I’ve also been happily serving as a board member at JUL. It’s great to organize fun activities together with Elisa, Marilieze, and Jip (and of course, to join in myself). In my free time, I enjoy being out and about: I love traveling and doing fun things with family and friends. Want to know more about what I’m up to? Feel free to approach me or send me a message! Jip de Bloois

Hey hey, I’m Jip, 26 years old, and I’m a communication officer at the university. A year and a half ago, I started in Strategic Communication and Marketing at the Administration and Central Services department. Now, I focus on organizing and communicating around the university’s 450th anniversary. Curious about what I’m working on? Check out the anniversary website 😊 In my free time, I love going to tennis lessons and yoga, and I really enjoy looking after friends’ and colleagues’ dogs *hint hint*. I’m happy to be helping Elisa and Marilieze this year in the JUL board, together with Evani. See you at the next drink!
