Review and feedback session for exams

An inspection and feedback session for exams offers students an important occasion to receive feedback and gives them insight into their learning process.

Inspection gives students the opportunity to look at their exam or essay and to ask questions. This feedback moment provides them with insight into their performance and how to improve their approach, which can add a formative function to a summative assessment. It is also an opportunity for teachers to gather valuable feedback for improving their teaching or assessments.

When and how to schedule an inspection

Students have the right to inspect and receive feedback on their work within 30 days after their results were announced, and always before the resit. In practice, this usually takes place within ten days after the announcement. The feedback can be given on a group basis or individually. As the examiner, you should publish the date of the inspection as early in the course as possible, via the timetable, Brightspace or the syllabus.
