Leiden University College is looking for an enthusiastic, charismatic and hands on recruitment and alumni officer to strengthen our team and work on our key challenges to further develop the student and alumni communities.
What you will do
LUC is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Recruitment & Alumni Officer to join our team.
This role is pivotal in attracting talented students and maintaining strong connections with our alumni community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Recruitment and Communication (50%)
- Contribute to and carry out online and offline recruitment & communication strategies of Leiden University college;
- Be a key point of contact for prospective national and international students, counselors and parents through the process of study choice exploration, application and enrolment;
- Developing and managing the planning and content for and participating in national and international recruitment activities, in close cooperation with the senior Recruitment and Communications Officer and other members of our team and Leiden University. This includes Open Days and experience days, school visits, presentations and fairs; both online and offline, in the Netherlands and abroad;
- Develop promotional materials and digital content to highlight LUC's profile to a wide audience of prospective and current students, parents and stakeholders inside and outside the university, including on social media;
- Overseeing, training and managing a team of Student Ambassadors;
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders inside and outside the university.
Alumni Relations (50%)
- Developing and managing the alumni strategy and relations of the college, which includes:
- Fostering strong relationships with LUC alumni in collaboration with the alumni association Evolucio, encouraging their involvement in mentoring, events, and networking opportunities;
- Coordinating events organized for alumni and contributing to events which involve alumni returning to the LUC campus;
- Maintaining and updating the alumni database, ensuring accurate records of alumni engagement and accomplishments, in cooperation with Leiden University’s central alumni office;
- Processing and interpreting data such as alumni surveys, and translating this to information that is shareable with internal stakeholders and can be used in external communication;
- Developing and managing alumni communications, including newsletters, social media updates (LinkedIn), and university events;
- Contribute to labor market orientation of prospective and current students through showcasing the career paths of our graduates and their contributions to addressing global challenges.

The Faculty of governance and Global Affairs is one of the seven faculties of Leiden University. Firmly rooted in the academic tradition, our students and researchers work together with national and international partners on new insights and solutions to current issues at the crossroads of politics, public administration and international law.
Leiden University College The Hague (LUC The Hague) was founded in 2010 as the international honours college of Leiden University in The Netherlands for a select group of excellent and highly motivated students from around the world. The LUC academic staff consists of highly ambitious and international scholars recruited from top institutes across the globe, who combine excellent teaching skills with conducting innovative multidisciplinary research.
The Alumni & Recruitment officer will be part of the DREAM team: Development, Recruitment, Events, Admissions and Marketing. The team members work closely together in the process of introducing prospective students to LUC through a range of different communication channels, tools and events, and guiding them through the process of application and enrollment. Our team is again involved when students graduate; both in organizing the graduation ceremony as well as managing the transition from student to alumnus. This is where the collaboration with our alumni association Evolucio comes in.
What you bring
- At least a Bachelor's degree from a University of Applied Sciences or a Research University
- 1-3 years of work experience in a relevant field
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect to different individuals and groups in multiple settings both in Dutch and English (C1 level);
- Comfortable delivering presentations to diverse audiences;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a hands-on mentality and prioritize tasks.
- Interested in working in an international environment and able to work in a (small) team as well as independently;
- Comfortable with a dynamic work schedule, involving occasional weekend/evening events and a few international travel commitments per year.

What we also offer
- A part time position (0.8 FTE) as Recruitment & Admissions officer. The appointment will be according to the terms of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten) for a period of one year with the possibility of a renewal based on need, funding and performance.
- The salary level depends on previous experience, and ranges between € 2.656,- and € 3.548,- (scale 8) gross per month for a full-time position, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities)
- A holiday allowance (8%), an end-of-year bonus (8,3%), and an attractive pension scheme at ABP;
- Full reimbursement of public transport commuting costs for home-to-work travel;
- Flexible working hours: as a standard, you are entitled to a minimum of 29 leave days on the basis of a full-time working week of 38 hours; you can also save for extra leave, for example by working 40 hours a week, and in this way accrue an extra 96 leave hours, or exchange 96 leave hours for a 36-hour week.
- Lots of options when it comes to secondary employment conditions; we can, for example, discuss options for a sabbatical or paid parental leave. Within our terms of employment individual choices model, you can exchange leave days and/or salary for benefits such as an advantageous sports subscription or bicycle scheme, and we also offer child-care options;
- If your work allows it, hybrid working is possible within the Netherlands;
- A home-working allowance (day and internet allowance) and attention for good workplaces. The University will also provide you with a laptop.
