Safety and security

On this webpage, you will find more information about (types of) security, who to ask for advice and where to report incidents.

Leiden University is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for staff members in their work and for students during their studies here. Visitors must also be able to rely on the best possible assurance of their safety and security. We are all responsible for this.

Types of security

Security monitoring and camera surveillance take place in all university buildings and grounds.

Security monitoring

All university buildings have security monitoring. Outside office hours, the surveillance is carried out by an external company.

Camera surveillance

Camera surveillance and video recording are in place in all university buildings and grounds. Stickers and signs indicate where the cameras are located. To find out more about this, please see the â€˜Camera surveillance’ webpage.
