Bloei programme
On this page you will read all about the Bloei funding tool.
What is Bloei?
Bloei is four years of funding that should further develop six existing interdisciplinary collaborations. Interdisciplinary research and teaching programmes with a proven track record will receive the support needed to improve their organisational structure, which will allow them to scale up and secure external funding. The Bloei funding may also be used for research and teaching tasks. With Bloei, Leiden University aims to raise its profile: proposals should therefore align with the university and faculties’ strategic ambitions.
Who is it for?
Bloei is for existing interdisciplinary collaborations/programmes with a track record that align with the university’s profile. These can be programmes with an emphasis on research, teaching or a mix of both. Applicants should demonstrate that this financial injection will help project reach its goals.
The applicant should be an internal party (Leiden University or Faculty of Medicine). The main applicants should be from at least two degree programmes, research institutes or a mixture of both. The initiatives should come from a team of academic and professional services staff and have a clear plan for the investment. The team should demonstrate strategic choices have been made based on a shared philosophy and vision on both the subject matter and the interdisciplinary teamwork. Proposals from parties already collaborating with external parties are not excluded, but the external party may not be a recipient of funds. If this collaboration demonstrably contributes to the objective, it is in fact an advantage. More partners may also join during the project.
Timeline
Because of the connection with the ongoing university profiling process, the call for the Bloei applications has not yet been issued in 2024. In the first half of 2025, a final schedule will be set for the call and assessment of the Bloei applications.
