Leiden University, as a broad-based university, is the perfect place for groundbreaking inter- and transdisciplinary research and teaching. But such activities hinge on finding the right partners and understanding each other’s worlds.

To support our academic community and strengthen our ties with external partners, Leiden University is giving its staff a special 450th-anniversary gift: the Knowledge Orchard inter- and transdisciplinary event.

Knowledge Orchard is the chance to immerse yourself for a day in the knowledge, expertise, questions and answers that will help start or enhance an inter- or transdisciplinary collaboration. You will go home with a list of leads and concrete actions to boost your interdisciplinary research or teaching.
Knowledge Orchard is in two parts:

The morning is for researchers, teaching staff and support professionals from the university and aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Attendees will gain:
-    More information about the results of inter- and transdisciplinary work within and outside the university;
-    The opportunity to ask or answer questions;
-    Useful contacts for the short and long term;
-    Inspiring examples of interdisciplinary research and teaching;
-    Handy tools/practical support from the university;
-    Unexpected new perspectives (offered by inspiring external experts on collaboration).

In the afternoon we are inviting external parties (such as Dutch policy advisors and their stakeholders) to look at where the university and society can join forces.
