Leiden Law School hosts LDE workshop on migration justice in the Americas

Leiden Law School will host the LDE-Majority World Workshop titled ‘Contemporary Migrations in the Americas: Cross-Atlantic Dialogue for Socio-Spatial Justice’, taking place from 24 to 28 March 2025. This workshop will address critical challenges around migration governance and human rights.

Urgent and complex issues

With a focus on the urgent and complex issues surrounding migration in the Americas, the workshop aims to deepen our understanding of migration governance, human rights, and the lived experiences of both migrants and local communities. By fostering cross-border dialogues and engaging diverse methodologies, the event will explore ways to address critical challenges and contribute to more just, inclusive approaches to migration policy.

Collaboration

This initiative, funded by LDE Global, is a collaboration between Amalia Campos-Delgado (Leiden University, Leiden Law School - Van Vollenhoven Institute), Nanneke Winters (Erasmus University Rotterdam, International Institute of Social Studies), and Theresa Audrey O. Esteban (Delft University of Technology, Management in the Built Environment), with strategic partnerships in the Majority of the World from Natalia R. Donner (Centro de Investigaciones Históricas, Antropológicas y Culturales AIP, Panama), Guillermo Yrizar Barbosa (Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla, Mexico), and Cynthia Mora Izaguirre (Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, Costa Rica).

This important event, aligned with the goals of the LDE Centre for Governance of Migration and Diversity and the interdisciplinary research programme Social Citizenship & Migration at Leiden University, will bring together scholars, activists, and practitioners from the Netherlands, Europe, and the Americas.
