Leiden University Global Fund grants 14 project proposals
On 9 December, a lottery to conclude the first call of the Leiden University Global Fund (LUGF) Seed Fund has granted 14 project proposals €15.000. These projects will be working to enhance the relationship between Leiden University and her partners in Africa, Latin America, North East and South East Asia.
Leiden University colleagues have been active in these regions for a long time. The LUGF Seed Fund was established in 2024 to invest in regional activities that may bloom into impactful collaborations, but also to connect regional activities and initiatives to the broader strategic vision of the university. This seed fund call was aimed to encourage colleagues to think about interdisciplinary projects with priority partners that could be scaled up within the regions or used to facilitate south-south collaboration. With a total of 45 eligible project proposals, the call was a great success. An overview of all proposals is available on the staff website.
The lucky winners that came out of the lottery draw are listed in the table below. In 2025, these colleagues will use the funding to set up their projects worldwide.
