Daan Jiskoot wins the Suzanne Hovinga Award 2024
During the LACDR Fall Symposium, Daan Jiskoot received the annual Suzanne Hovinga Award for the best master thesis. Daan performed his Research Project 2 at the University of California, Irvine at the Prof. David Mobley lab, supported by LACDR supervisor Willem Jespers. The in silico determination of the binding affinity of small molecules is a key component of early-stage drug discovery.
Daan’s research involved the development of a molecular generator with the specific purpose of generating intermediates for free energy perturbations. This year we received 4 applications for the Suzanne Hovinga Award from Biopharmaceutical Sciences master students that received an 8.5 or higher for their thesis. Daan’s thesis stood out as a very cohesive report, in which research findings were well-discussed and presented. Congratulations!
