Let your students practice digital skills and science communication with Medialab+ workshops

The Medialab+ offers interactive workshops for students in which they practice digital skills and science communication and become acquainted with professional equipment from the Humanities Hub in Huizinga. These workshops take place as part of courses and are planned in consultation with the course teacher. Students work towards creating a media product in the context of their own research area.

Podcasts, video essays, knowledge clips and blogs

The Medialab+ provides four different types of workshops: podcasts, video essays, knowledge clips and blogs. During the workshops, students learn how to share their scientific research using digital media. The workshops pay attention to the translation that this requires. For example: how do I structure a podcast? Which formats are suitable? But also: how do I present my research in an accessible way to a broader audience?

The workshops: interactive and getting acquainted with professional equipment

The students get to work with the professional equipment in the Humanities Hub in Huizinga. They make practice recordings in the podcast or film studio and are introduced to basic editing. The facilities and equipment are also available to students after the workshop: they can book the recording studios and edit on the PCs during walk-in hours. Digital materials such as manuals and templates are available to students.

Workshops within the context of subjects

These workshops are integrated into a course with the aim of students getting to work with the knowledge they have acquired. The workshops are planned in consultation with the teacher. In this way, students work towards creating a media product in the context of their own research area.
