Launch of new master’s programmes and specialisations at Leiden Law School

With the introduction of three new master’s programmes in 2025/2026, the range of programmes offered by Leiden Law School will be even broader and more varied. The new degree programmes focus on economics, law and business administration, and law and migration.

The three new degrees are designed to respond to topical issues within the fields of law and economics. From the next academic year, we offer students the possibility to specialise in the following areas:

  • Governance of Migration and Diversity
This is a new English-taught specialisation within the master’s Rechtsgeleerdheid (Law) that focuses on the legal aspects of migration and diversity. Students will acquire insights into the legal and policy frameworks that regulate migration. The programme offers a more in-depth understanding of the legal challenges related to integration and migration management.

  • Law and Business Administration
Another new Dutch-taught specialisation within the master’s Rechtsgeleerdheid (Law) is Recht en Bedrijfskunde (Law and Business Administration). This specialisation combines courses in law and business administration and will prepare students to analyse and resolve legal issues in a business context. This programme is ideal for students who want to build a bridge between law and entrepreneurship.

  • Public Sector Economics
In addition to the new specialisations, the faculty is introducing a new Dutch-taught master’s programme Economie van de Publieke Sector (Public Sector Economics). This degree programme focuses on the economic analysis of policy within the public sector, offering courses on public finance, public policymaking and the impact of legislation. Students will learn how they can apply economic theory to topical policy issues.

These three new master’s degree programmes will be presented to prospective students at the Master’s Online Open Day on 17 October. More information on this Open Day is available here.
