Faculty Board terms Mark and Mirjam expire: Recruitment of interim successors
The terms of two Faculty Board members will soon be coming to an end. In 2025 both Dean Mark Rutgers and Vice-Dean Education MA and ResMA Mirjam de Baar will be stepping down as members of the Humanities Faculty Board. Mark’s term ends on 1 March 2025 and Mirjam’s term ends on 31 December 2024. The Executive Board plans to extend the Vice-Dean's term to 1 March 2025. This means that a recruitment procedure for two new board members is currently underway.
Interim board members
The Executive Board has decided that initially two interim board members will be recruited, aiming for them to take up their positions on 1 March 2025 at the latest. Together with the current board members Jeroen Touwen, Saskia Goedhard and Assessor Nova Verkerk, over the next two years, they will have the task of developing plans and making decisions for a renewed, compact and financially healthy faculty.
After the interim period of two years, a new board will be appointed with regular terms of office, which will continue to build on the future Faculty of Humanities.
Recruitment process
Input for filling the two vacancies was obtained in Spring 2024 with a faculty-wide inventory round. Members of the Faculty Board, academic directors, educational directors, programme directors, the Faculty Office MT and the Faculty Council were invited to report their wishes and key focus areas for filling the two Faculty Board positions.
The two job advertisement texts, which have been coordinated with the Faculty Council and academic directors, will be published shortly. Interviews for the role of interim Dean are scheduled for 18 October. Interviews for the position of interim Vice-Dean are expected to follow in the second half of October, with the goal being for the interim Dean to participate in this process.
