HUM POPcorner to close
The Faculty Board has decided to close the HUM POPcorner as of 1 September 2024. Given the faculty's financial deficit in 2024 and the concerning long-term financial outlook, choices have to be made, including with regard to student facilities.
Although the POPcorner has worked hard in recent years to increase its visibility and reach among students, its impact on the learning environment appears to be limited. The context in which the POPcorner operates has also changed. For several years now, there has been more faculty-wide attention to student well-being. In addition, various facilities such as workshops are now offered at a central level. Finally, several identity networks have been established that play an important role in community building.
Deeply appreciative
The Faculty Board is deeply appreciative of all the staff and students involved for their efforts in setting up and coordinating the POPcorner. The Humanities Buddy Programme, the collaboration with the IncLUsion student initiative, and HUM's contribution to the POPcorner in The Hague will continue.
