In memoriam Hans Junginger
On 25 May 2024, our much-loved former colleague prof.dr.dr.h.c.mult Hans E. Junginger passed away.
Hans was a professor at the LACDR from 1980-2004. As head of the department of Pharmaceutical Technology, he conducted leading research in the field of drug delivery. We remember Hans as a much-loved colleague at the LACDR and beyond. The students of Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences received a lot of support from Hans; as an honourary member of the study association ‘Aesculapius’, he remained closely involved in our study programme even after his retirement.
Hans was one of the important pioneers of pharmaceutical sciences in Leiden. In 2010, he received the Lifetime Award from the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) for this. He contributed significantly to the visibility Leiden University in his beloved field. We are very grateful to him for this.
Our thoughts are with his wife, children and grandchildren. We wish them much strength in these difficult times.
