Small fire in Snellius building: no injuries, building reopened on Wednesday
At around noon on Tuesday 9 April, a small fire started in the basement of Leiden University’s Snellius building. The fire brigade was quickly on the scene and soon extinguished the fire.
The fire in the building (at the Leiden Bio Science Park on Niels Bohrweg) caused no major damage or injuries. The building was evacuated because of the smell and remained closed to students, staff and visitors for the rest of the day.
Update: 15.45 hrs.: As of 10 April 2024, the Snellius building is open once again for students and staff. Teaching will continue as planned.
