Towards translation of CNS pharmacokinetics from mice to men
PhD candidates Mohammed Saleh and Berfin Gülave (Division of Systems Pharmacology and Pharmacy) published their research paper on “Using the LeiCNS-PK3.0 Physiologically-Based Pharmacokinetic Model to Predict Brain Extracellular Fluid Pharmacokinetics in Mice”.
Pharmaceutical Research (DOI: 10.1007/s11095-023-03554-5). They stated that mouse studies recapitulating central nervous system (CNS) diseases have long been used to study human diseases and drug treatment including those related to the CNS, but such information is not directly translatable to the human situation. Therefore, it is important to seek for translational approaches. They concluded that this mouse LeiCNS-PK3.0 model brings the translation between mouse and human brain PK one step further.
