International Labor Rights Case Law Journal affiliated with Department of Labour Law
In recent years, much research has been conducted at the Department of Labour Law on the topic of sustainability and fundamental labour rights. Linked to this field is a journal: the International Labor Rights Case Law Journal (ILaRC).
ILaRC publishes rulings in the field of fundamental labour rights from judicial and non-judicial bodies and provides expert commentary. The journal is published by Brill Koninklijke Uitgeverij Leiden in cooperation with the Department of Labour Law of Leiden Law School. ILaRC was founded 20 years ago by Paul van der Heijden, emeritus professor of international labour law, who remained its Editor-in-Chief until 1 January 2023. For a long time, he also served as Chairman of the Committee on Freedom of Association (CFA) of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
On 1 January 2023, Paul van der Heijden was succeeded as ILaRC’s Editor-in-Chief by Yvonne Erkens who conducts research in the field of transnational labour law and publishes regularly on that topic. In 2018, Erkens and Van der Heijden together established the Database of Business Ethics (DBBE), a collection of Codes of Conduct of listed companies worldwide.
Starting 1 September 2013, Fieke Weber has been appointed as ILaRC’s Managing Editor. From 2019 to mid-2023, she worked as a lawyer in Amsterdam and Leiden. Fieke also joined the Department of Labour Law as a member of the teaching staff on 1 September 2023.
