Sustainability report discussed at symposium Sustainability and Corporate Law
Recently, the Department of Company Law, in cooperation with Dutch journal Onderneming en Financiering, organised a symposium ‘Duurzaamheid en Ondernemingsrecht’ (Sustainability and Corporate Law). The turnout was an inspired group of lawyers and entrepreneurs with a keen interest in the subject.
The presentations focused on the theme sustainability and the business sector and covered relevant developments within the professional field. For example, an important topic proved to be the new 2022 proposal for a guideline, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which will require companies to include a sustainability report in their annual report from 2024. Will this ensure progress in relation to sustainability? And what does the proposal mean in practice for businesses? Who will it affect? Each presentation closed with a proposition which was used to open the debate between the presenter and the audience. A debate which the attendees entered into with great enthusiasm. A successful event that provided interesting insights shortly before sustainability week.
The symposium was co-organised by: Harold Koster, Eva Eijkelenboom, Cees de Groot, Jorian Hamster, Ruud Hermans, Anne Lafarre and Marijn Bodelier.
