Fourth PhD Workshop on European/International Insolvency Law
From Thursday-Friday 28-29 April 2022 the Stichting Bob Wessels Insolvency Law Collection (BWILC) invites PhD students from Europe and beyond to participate in a fourth edition of the PhD workshop on European/International Insolvency Law.
As during the prior three successful editions, PhD students will present their ideas, but also the challenges and questions they are confronted with in their research. Notwithstanding the uncertainties concerning the COVID-19 situation, the event is scheduled to take place in Leiden but if needed we can of course switch to a digital surrounding.
The workshop aims at achieving two main goals. First, it provides PhD students in the area of European/International Insolvency Law, from Europe and beyond a chance to connect with peers who are at more or less the very same stage of their legal or academic career. They can meet, exchange experiences and create a network. Second, the workshop will allow each participant to present, test and discuss its (developing) ideas in front of fellow colleagues as well as experienced professors in order to strengthen its research findings and skills.
Setting of the PhD Workshop
The workshop is sponsored by the Stichting Bob Wessels Insolvency Law Collection which is supporting the international and European insolvency law section in the Law school library of Leiden University. It takes place annually at Leiden University and if the circumstances allow, this years’ conference will take place physically again. In case of a physical meeting, BWILC will provide one night accommodation in Leiden and (if not otherwise reimbursed) a maximum of 50% of the travel expenses up to EUR 250,- for those invited to give a presentation of their research.
Participation in the workshop is limited to invited PhD students. PhD students may apply to present their research proposal, present interim results or a (draft) chapter/article. You can apply by filling in the electronic form (see the annex with more information) by 1 March 2022, midnight CET.
Responsibility for the review of applications and the workshop itself lies with the Board of BWILC: Prof. Matthias Haentjens, Prof. Joeri Vananroye, Prof. Stephan Madaus, Prof. Reinout Vriesendorp and Paul Omar. Prof. Bob Wessels will be involved as a patron.
