Successful symposium on Circuit Topology
On the 8th of December 2021, Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR) organized “Circuit Topology 2021”, the first international symposium on circuit topology. The focus was on the mathematical notion of Circuit Topology, and its applications to physics, chemistry and biomedicine.
Circuit Topology framework was developed at the Medical Systems Biophysics and Bioengineering group at LACDR. The emergence of this technology was a response to a need for being able to define and compare the topology of proteins and nucleic acids.
The speakers shared insights on protein folding and 3D genome architecture, and on how drugs can be designed to alter folding landscape of a biopolymer. Finally, mathematical foundation of Circuit Topology was discussed.
