Mirjam Sombroek-van Doorm asked again to advise Minister of Health
The Minister has requested urgent advice from Sombroek-van Doorm in relation to the vaccination of children aged between 5 and 12 years against COVID-19.
Associate Professor of Health Law Mirjam Sombroek-van Doorm has been asked on account of her expertise in the area of health law and children’s rights.
The Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport has asked the Health Council of the Netherlands to advise him on the possibility of vaccinating children between the ages of 5 and 12 against COVID-19. This request is particularly relevant for vulnerable children who belong to one of the high-risk medical groups.
The committee that will answer the request for advice consists of members of the Standing Committee on Medical Aspects of Ethics and Law and the Committee on Medical Aspects of COVID-19. The members and the experts consulted, including Mirjam Sombroek van-Doorm, will participate on the committee in a personal capacity.
In June this year Sombroek-van Doorm had already provided advice to the Minister on the vaccination of healthy children aged 12 years and older and which vaccine to use.
