First on-campus event for prospective students: ‘Dr. Black’s seminar was so interactive!’
Touring the campus, meeting current students and taking part in an interactive seminar in the Lipsius building. After 1,5 years of online events due to the corona pandemic, a live Student for a Day took place again on Friday 24 September.
Although the upcoming bachelor’s and master’s open days in autumn 2021 will still be held online, prospective students could get a physical taste of the master International Relations on Friday.
The students were first welcomed by Coordinator of Studies Janneke Walstra who gave them a short introduction to the programme and answered all of their questions. The Q&A session was followed by Programme Director Lindsay Black who gave the seminar Regionalism in World Politics. Finally current students took the prospective students on a tour of the Humanities Campus and talked to them about what it’s like to study the International Relations master’s at Leiden.
Asking questions
Teresa, a BA International Studies student decided to join the event because she wanted 'to get a feeling of the atmosphere in Leiden, because I live in The Hague. I also really enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and to hear the questions other students asked.'
‘Getting a taste’
University of Groningen Student, Mart, had already studied the website extensively, but 'wanted to get a taste of what the master’s programme is like, because I come from another university. The Student for a day event gave me a real taste of what it is like here in Leiden, especially since everything is opening up again at the university. I also really enjoyed the Regionalism in World Politics seminar from Dr. Lindsay Black. It was very interactive!'
