Work to begin on 703 new student flats at Leiden Bio Science Park in mid-2021
Seven hundred and three independent student flats will be built in the entrance area of the Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP), close to the University Sports Centre. Construction will begin this year and the accommodation is expected to be completed by the start of academic year 2023-2024.
Developer Yisheng has reached an agreement with Round Hill Capital about the purchase of this student housing, and the two signed a purchase agreement on 22 April.
Facilities
The project consists of the construction of two buildings with a gross floor area of around 23,000 m2. Alongside individual student flats, the buildings will include various communal spaces and facilities, such as study spaces, dining rooms, laundry rooms and roof terraces. Construction will begin in mid-2021 and the buildings will be ready by the start of academic year 2023/2024.
Area transformation
With its MORE plan Yisheng won Leiden University’s tender in 2019 for the development of the LBSP entrance area, by the University Sports Centre. Alongside student flats the entire plan for the area includes rental properties, shops, cafés and restaurants and other shared facilities.
Vibrant campus
The construction of this student accommodation is a milestone in the development of the MORE plan and the university campus at the LBSP as a whole. The arrival of students will make the entrance area a vibrant place to live.
