Increasing collaboration
It gives us great pleasure to announce that with the generous sponsorship of KITLV / the Royal Netherlands Institute for Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies, Dr Henk Schulte Nordholt has been appointed extraordinary professor of Indonesian history for a five-year period (0,2 fte).
Henk will continue his work as head of research at KITLV, a position he has held since 2005. His previous positions include an associate professorship in anthropology at the University of Amsterdam, an IIAS extraordinary professorship of Asian history at Erasmus University, and an extraordinary professorship in Southeast Asian studies at the VU University Amsterdam. His research interests include Southeast Asian history, contemporary politics in Indonesia, political violence, and the anthropology of colonialism. He takes a special interest in Balinese studies.
Henk’s affiliation with the University is anchored in LIAS, but preparation of this happy development has happened in close consultation with colleagues in Cultural Anthropology & Development Sociology and in History, as part of increasing collaboration between KITLV and the University.
