Christa Tobler on BBC Radio about vote for women in Switzerland
On 7 February 2021, Christa Tobler appeared on the BBC Wales radio programme 'Sunday Supplement' (a political and current affairs programme), entitled 'Covid, homelessness and votes for women'. The 50th anniversary of Swiss women's suffrage at the federal level, is commemorated on 7 February 2021.
Christa Tobler appeared together with the Basel book author Anita Lehmann. She is a co-author of the book '50 sensational Swiss women' (see here). One of Christa Tobler's research specialisations is equal treatment and non-discrimination. Upon the invitation of a Swiss lawyers' organisation, she is currently working on a longer article entitled 'Equality and political rights: Towards an inclusive democracy'. It discusses not only legal aspects of the introduction of women's suffrage in Switzerland (with a special focus on 'legal language and gender') but also with the voting rights of people with disabilities, Swiss nationals abroad, foreign nationals in Switzerland, and young people - always from the perspective of equality under international and Swiss law.
