Remote workplace
The remote workplace allows you to open a virtual workplace from your own PC, Mac, smartphone or tablet. However, remote workplace is being phased out and soon (April 2025) many applications will no longer be available via remote workplace. For most applications it is possible to log on via eduVPN (with Edge browser) or the Microsoft 365 package. For everyday work, logging on via remote workplace (Citrix) is usually not necessary. The need to log on via remote workplace is only temporarily necessary for a number of (faculty) specific applications.
Alternative tools
For everyday work, these are the alternatives to using remote workplace:
- For email and calendar functions, please use webmail or Outlook via Microsoft 365.
- For Office software or to save files in the cloud, please use Microsoft 365 and OneDrive.
- J drive: if you work on a managed work computer or laptop, you can access your J-drive via eduVPN.
- Self Service: eduVPN also gives you access to Self Service (e.g. for your payslip, annual tax statement and vacation applications, travel and expenses, invoices and HR information such als your flexible benefits). If you need help in launching eduVPN, please consult the manual in the helpdesk portal. To use SAP Self Service without logging on to remote workplace:
- eduVPN needs to be installed
- you need to log on to Service Portal.
