Employee experience survey

Within our university, we believe it is important to remain in dialogue with each other, to hear what is going on, and to take steps together. This allows us to build an environment in which we can work and grow together.

The employee experience survey is the successor to the Personnel Monitor and is conducted once every two years. This survey offers not only a retrospective, but also insights for future changes.

Important themes

The employee experience survey covers the following themes:

  • Social safety and work pressure
  • Workplace, working hours, pay and IT facilities
  • Well-being, vitality, and work-life balance
  • Colleagues, cooperation, and team dynamics
  • Leadership and autonomy
  • Career and development opportunities
  • Communication between employees and supervisors 

This is the perfect opportunity to indicate what you need to engage with your work with pleasure and satisfaction. Whether you are satisfied or critical, your opinion is indispensable for a complete picture of employee experience at our university. It helps us to find out what is going well and what could be improved, and to create a work environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

Minimum response rate of 50%

When it comes to themes such as social safety and work pressure, it is important to provide the Dutch Labour Authority (Arbeidsinspectie) with a representative picture. This requires a minimum response rate of 50% within all organisational units.

Targeted action

Based on the results, we can take targeted action. For example, the 2022 Personnel Monitor led to steps being taken in the field of work pressure, social safety, and the onboarding of new staff members and supervisors.

Personal dashboard

The employee experience survey can also provide you with valuable insights. You will be able to see directly via your personal dashboard what affects your well-being, development, and performance. The dashboard can help you not only to look back, but also to plan ahead. You can get to work with the results yourself using the practical tips and personalised advice.  

Participation is simple: on 6 May, you will receive an invitation by e-mail from Welliba. A link will take you to the questionnaire, where you can fill in your answers. This should take approximately 30 minutes. If you cannot complete the questionnaire in one go, no problem: you can continue at a time that suits you.

Prize for highest response rate

The two teams with the highest response rates will win a voucher for lunch or drinks with the team. We will distinguish between teams of up to 10 employees and teams of more than 10 employees to make sure everyone has a fair chance. The winners will be announced in the week of 2 June.

I am an employee

  1. Complete the questionnaire. Once you have finished, you will be automatically directed to your personal dashboard. You can return here later by logging into Welliba.
  2. Have a look at the factors that influence your well-being, development, and performance. You will also receive tips and advice.
  3. Individual answers cannot be viewed by others or traced back to you.

I am a supervisor

  1. In preparation, follow the webinar for supervisors about the importance and design of the employee experience survey. This webinar will take place on Thursday 24 April from 13:00 to 13:45 (in Dutch only). You will receive an invitation to the webinar by e-mail.
  2. As soon as the results are available, you will receive an e-mail giving you access to the supervisor dashboard.
  3. View the merged results for your team or department (provided enough people have completed the survey).  For each result, you will receive tailored advice on how to proceed.
  4. After the survey, join in the webinar on interpreting and following up on the results:
    1. On Tuesday 3 June 2025 at 14.00-15.00 hrs. (in Dutch).
    2. on Thursday 5 June 2025 at 09.00-10.00 hrs. (in English).
  5. Use the template for a plan of action for your team/department.

The employee experience survey offers valuable insights not only for the entire organisation, but also for you and your team. Within your team, you can reflect on cooperation, results, and atmosphere: what works well, and where can you grow as a team? On a personal level, these insights can also be valuable for your GROW interview: what do you need to continue to work with pleasure and success?

Confidentiality guaranteed

We consider it essential that you can participate in the employee experience survey openly and honestly. Anonymity and confidentiality are therefore paramount. Your answers will be processed in such a way that they can never be traced back to you as an individual. This guarantees that you can freely share what is important to you.
