Travel advice
If you are going on a business trip to a destination that poses health risks, you can make an appointment with the specialised nurses of the University. They can give you advice and indicate whether you will require any vaccinations or malaria medication.
Important: Depending on the colour code of the country where you intend to make your business trip, you will need prior written permission for the trip from the Faculty Board/Expertise Centre Director and/or the Executive Board. Make sure you submit your request no later than 8 weeks before the planned trip. Read more>>>
Advice
The specialised nurses at the Department of Safety, Health and Environment (VGM) can provide you with personal health advice before your trip. In your appointment, they will assess your health, your destination, the length of your trip, how you will be travelling and the activities that you will be undertaking and will issue you with advice and indicate whether you will require any vaccinations or malaria medication.
Vaccinations
Any vaccinations can be administered at the end of the appointment. If you have special medical needs or require specific vaccinations, the nurses will work together with the vaccination outpatient clinic at the LUMC. All vaccinations will be recorded in a vaccination book, which is an international certificate of immunisation. If you already have one, please bring it with you to your appointment.
The specialised nurses follow the guidelines of the Landelijk Coördinatiecentrum Reizigersadvisering (the national coordination centre for travel advice; LCR). The doctor in charge at VGM is an occupational physician who has LCR certification.
Making an appointment
Some vaccinations must be administered several times, so it is advisable to make an appointment as soon as you know when you will be travelling. You can visit us from Monday to Friday, from 11:00 to 12:30 hrs and from 15:00 to 16:00 hrs.
Or call to make an appointment with one of our nurses: +31 71 526 3643.
