About the event:

The concept of “narrative” is increasingly prominent in the foreign policy thinking in several great powers and in the European Union, boosted further by heightened geopolitical tensions and standoffs. However, the concept and the dynamics that actively shape “narratives” are still poorly understood. Therefore, Leiden University College The Hague and the Europa Institute of Leiden Law School are hosting an event on the topic of “Europe and Geopolitics of Narrative”. Following a closed workshop, the event will conclude with a public lecture and expert roundtable discussion with leading scholars, policy experts, and practitioners.

The event aims to highlight and critically investigate the growing importance of “narrative power” and the global “battle of the narratives” from different disciplinary and professional perspectives, including in relation to Europe’s alleged “geopolitical awakening”.

This event is organized in the framework of, and with generous funding from the Leiden Europe Hub.
