Study of ‘Limesgemmen’
Last summer Hazenberg Archeologie was in search of Roman gems with an archaeological link to the Limes, for study and to create a new database. ‘New’ gems preferably, unknown to archaeologists or PAN. We made an appeal to people like amateur metal detectorists, with some success.
During the working conference in January 2025 the yields of the search will be reviewed, and possibilities for further research and publications will be discussed.
Mark Driessen and a few of his students will also attend.
This project is also looking for enthusiastic students for an internship focused on further research.
