About the speakers

Johannes Kester is a senior research associate at the Transport Studies Unit, School of Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford. His work ranges from energy security and scarcity to sustainable transitions in personal transport (electrification and automation) as well as the security governance of mobility through safety, insurance and surveillance practices. Besides recent (co)authored work with Palgrave and Routledge, his publications can be found in TRD, JTG, TFSC, RSES, GEC, Mobilities, EIST, Security Dialogue, Energy Policy and ERSS.

Tim Stevens is a Reader in International Security and Director of the Cyber Security Research Group at King’s College London. His research interests include the national and international politics of cybersecurity, cyber strategy and military cyber affairs.

Norma Rossi is Associate Lecturer in International Relations at the University of St Andrews. Her research lies at the intersection of Critical Security/War Studies, International Political Sociology, and Postcolonialism, focussing on the multifaceted relationships between violence, subjectivity, and the construction of political authority. Her work has been published in, amongst others, Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding, Global Crime, Journal of Political Ideologies, and Globalizations. Previously a Senior Lecturer in Defence and International Affairs at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, she is passionate about bridging research and teaching and has designed and delivered International Conflict Management courses to civilian and security officials in North Africa, the Middle East, South America, the Balkans, and the Caucasus.
