During the Talk, experts will discuss how European Universities alliances are creating new ways of working together in a rapidly changing world – characterised by challenges such as demographic changes, migration, limited financial resources and environmental concerns.
The three speakers will also examine how international cooperation can balance integration and competition among institutions to build a sustainable model for the future.
Meet the speakers
Nana Aba Appiah Amfo is the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana and a Professor of Linguistics with over 22 years of experience in higher education. As Vice-Chancellor, she emphasises integrating technology into university operations while keeping people central. She launched a $7 million digitalisation program to improve the experience for students, faculty, and staff.
Piero Venturi, an agronomist with a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Università di Bologna, has advanced bioeconomy and sustainability throughout his career. In the European Commission, he served as the EU Science Counsellor to Latin America and the African Union, promoting research initiatives under Horizon Europe. He now leads the Clean Hydrogen Mission, driving global sustainable hydrogen strategies and supporting climate policies.
Raffaella Campaner, Full Professor of Philosophy of Science and Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Università di Bologna, has a long-standing focus on the philosophy of science. With degrees from Università degli Studi di Trieste and University of St Andrews, her research explores philosophical theories of scientific explanation, conceptions of causation, scientific models, with a specific focus on the biomedical sciences.
