A conference in honour of Chris Peter' 75th birthday

On Thursday 5 and Friday 6 September 2024 a conference will be organised in honour of the 75th birthday of Chris Peters. Peters is a leading expert in algebraic geometry, especially in Hodge theory.

Chris Peters turned 75 on 8 March 2024. He received his doctorate in Leiden in 1974. He then worked at Leiden University, University of Harvard and Université Grenoble-Alpes. He has been a guest researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology since his retirement in 2013 and at Leiden University since 2021.

Peters is a leading expert in algebraic geometry, especially in Hodge theory of algebraic varieties, period domains and Torelli theorems. He has co-authored several books on these topics, amongst others:

  • Compact complex surfaces, co-authored with Barth, Hulek and Van de Van.
  • Mixed Hodge Structures, coauthored with Joseph Steenbrink.

Peters has directly and indirectly mentored a generation of mathematicians through his books and invaluable research works.
