Do you come across digital-born data in your work as research supporter or researcher? Then our first 'Connect &' event of the academic year is interesting for you. Imelda van Hooijdonk, advisor archive and information management at the Administrative Shared Service Centre, will introduce, and is asking for feedback on, a joint University Library-University Archives project on digital-born data within the university.

Abstract

The university library and the university archives are in a collaborative project to do a quick scan concerning digital born data and possible heritage. The arrival of the digital age gave us many ways to create and store information,  but also many formats to do so. Some of this information needs to be preserved for long periods of time. We would like to discuss the  'black hole' that exists in our knowledge about data and information that needs to be preserved long term. We would also like to hear about best practices concerning data preservation from different scientific communities.

This session

This Connect & session takes place online and will last one hour. After the introduction presentation there will be time for questions and (informal) discussion. Everyone interested in thet topic is very welcome to join. If you are part of the Leiden University Research Data Management Community you will have received a calendar invite. If you are not on the contact list, you can register for the session by emailing datamanagement@library.leidenuniv.nl
