Room
EM.1.09

The EU project “STIBNITE” aimed to develop the next generation of organic semiconductor materials based on carbon, nitrogen, and boron. These materials are of utmost importance for flexible opto-electronic devices such as better solar cells and new telephone displays. In this debate, we will give a short overview of the achievements of this multi-disciplinary project followed by a panel discussion. The debate is open for all interested in the chemistry and physics of new materials that will be needed for new affordable and environment-friendly products and devices.

Programme

Introduction

Introduction by the coordinator of the consortium Prof. Dr. Davide Bonifazzi from the University of Vienna, expert in the organic synthesis of the molecules on which the new materials are based.

Panel discussion

Panel discussion moderator: Prof. Dr. Petra Rudolf from the University of Groningen, expert in growing the new materials on surfaces and as thin films

Panel discussion members:

  1. Prof. Dr. Rúben Costa, Technical University of Munich, design of sustainable and/or biogenic functional materials for optoelectronics
  2. Prof. Dr. Tatiana da Ros, University of Trieste, preparation and characterisation of boron and nitrogen doped carbon dots
  3. Dr. Richard van Rijn, CEO of Applied Nanolayers, large-scale industrial synthesis of organic semiconductor materials
  4. Sanchari Chowdhury, MSc, PhD candidate at Technical University of Munich, Sustainable material-based photovoltaic devices
  5. Vladimir Calvi, MSc, PhD candidate at Leiden University and Applied Nanolayers, large-scale industrial synthesis of organic semiconductor materials

After the panel discussion, there will be time for informal discussion over drinks.
