Multiple Scales: theory and applications
Multiple Scales: theory and applications

From Monday 8 July until Friday 12 July the Lorentz Center is organising the workshop Multiple Scales: theory and applications

Topics

  • Multiple Scales, canards and bifurcations
  • Geometric singular perturbation theory
  • Noise- and rate-induced tipping
  • Applications to climate and vegetation patterns

The first aim of the workshop is to provide a dedicated focused platform for both theory-inclined and application-inclined multiple scales researchers. By providing this platform, the workshop seeks to facilitate meaningful discussions, knowledge and methodology sharing on state-of-the-art open problems, and ultimately, the establishment of new research collaborations between theory-inclined and applications-inclined researchers. Scientific organisers

Margaret Beck (Boston University)
Peter van Heijster (Wageningen University & Research)
Matt Holzer (George Mason University)
Vivi Rottschäfer (Leiden University, University of Amsterdam)
Henk Schuttelaars (Delft University of Technology)

Workshop coordinator

Maria Krebbers

Registration

Registration is no longer possible, the workshop is fully booked.

The Symposium in Multiple Scales on Tuesday 9 July in celebration of the 60th birthdays of Arjen Doelman (professor of Applied Analysis, Leiden University) and Tasso Kaper (professor of Applied Mathematics and Dynamical Systems, Boston University) is part of this Lorentz Center workshop. Registration for this symposium is still possible. Read more.
