Collaborative learning and collaboration as a skill will be included in the final objectives of the faculty part of the OER from academic year 2023/2024. But how exactly do you do that? What is the role of the teacher in this learning process? In this training you will learn how to guide students in learning this transferable skill.
The training is for teachers who want to set up projects in their tutorials, but also for teachers who want to strengthen their skills in guiding student collaboration.
Training content
During this training day we will investigate how you can guide groups of students in project situations and how you help them to work together more effectively, more meaningfully and with more pleasure.
What are the minimum frameworks that you give to a group of students? How can you intervene when things get tense? How do students get the best out of themselves? What are smart brainstorming techniques you can teach your students? These are questions that will be discussed during the training.
We will learn by experiencing for ourselves how certain techniques and interventions work. We therefore regularly change perspectives between that of the student and that of the teacher/supervisor, so that you can then develop your own style.
At the end of this day you will have learned about:
- Different roles that you can take on in different (project) situations;
- How to influence the group dynamics of a project team;
- How to guide students during the project, possibly without being present yourself;
- Various brainstorming techniques that students can also use online.
Testing and assessment of collaboration
The testing and assessment of collaboration has a different dynamic than an individual test or assessment. During the training, Annebeth Simonsz from O&K will make a contribution from the Faculty of Humanities. What are the faculty guidelines and how can you practically deal with student expectations regarding the assessment of collaboration?
