Are you interested in understanding the role of Law in sustainable issues? In the way in which Law can contribute to solutions? If so, please join us on 15 June for the book presentation (in Dutch) of 'Panta Rhei: Recht en Duurzaamheid'. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity to meet the authors over drinks on the - hopefully bright and sunny - terrace of the Sterrewacht.
About the book
This compilation provides an overview of the research on sustainability that has been carried out at Leiden Law School. Researchers from a wide range of law disciplines have contributed to the book, dealing with issues surrounding climate and the environment, fair employment, human rights, sustainable entrepreneurship and investments, and the role Law can and should play.
The Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs - of the United Nations act as a recurring thread throughout this book. The SDGs are a set of 17 development goals spanning five dimensions: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership. The various development goals are sometimes at odds with each other but, at the same time, it is this tension that makes the SDGs so effective. Sustainable development can only be achieved by balancing ecological, economic and social interests. This compilation provides a contribution from an academic perspective and, for that reason, is well suited for readers looking for an overview of the various legal issues surrounding sustainability.
