Connect & Open up: meet the Open Science Community Leiden
- Date
- Monday 15 May 2023
- Time
- Address
- MS Teams
In this network event, we will have a closer look at Open Science and its efforts to make scientific research accessible, reproducible, and freely available to people within and outside of academics.
Anna van t Veer is the coordinator of the Open Science Community Leiden. She will join us to tell more about OSCL, which is open to anyone associated with Leiden University who wishes to learn and talk about open science practices.
Anna will emphasize the advantages to society of making Open Science normative. She will focus on the softer side of the goals of the National Plan Open Science (https://www.openscience.nl/) and will show us examples of other open practices that she considers to be important, but sometimes not so obvious aspects of openness, such as preregistration and opening up the work and research processes.
Anna is specifically reaching out to datamanagers within the University in her efforts to attract a larger audience within the faculties: OSCL invites new members to join and aims to have ambassadors in each faculty.
The main session will last one hour with extra time allocated for asking questions and continuing the discussion with those who wish to stay a bit longer. Please contact datamanagement@library.leidenuniv.nl if you are not a member of the Research Data Management Community and would like to attend.
About Connect & events
This event is part of the “Connect and …” series of meetings arranged by, and for, the Leiden University Research Data Management Community. The meetings take around the middle of the month, every month, at different days and times, so as to maximize access according to people’s different working hours. Topics and speakers are proposed by members of the Community.
You can post a suggestion in the Community's MSTeams space, or write to datamanagement@library.leidenuniv.nl, if you have a topic you'd like to discuss in a future meeting and the CDS team will help to make it happen.
If you’re interested in joining us, please fill out the registration form .
