In This Fragile World - edited by Annachiara Raia and Clarissa Vierke - is a pioneering colection of poetry by the outstanding Kenyan poet, intellectual and imam Ustadh Mahmmoud Mau (born 1952) from Lamu Island, once an Indian Ocean hub, now on the edge of the nation state.
Annachiara Raia and Clarissa Vierke will situate the poet's oeuvre within transoceanic exchanges of thoughts so characteristic of the Swahili Indian Ocean Coast. At this event, Mahmmoud Mau will read from his own poetry in his local language and researcher Annachiara Raia will contextualise his work.
