About the workshops

After the conference in September, a pilot started to test checklists for contracts in the field of NDA/CDA and consultancy. In this session, we will share more about the pilot and analyze with the aid of the checklist.

All researchers have to write a data management plan for their research project, in which they explain how they will collect, store, and share, their research data. We’ll put you in the place of a researcher, who needs to plan their data management, and we’ll ask you to decide what issues are important, and who you should approach for help. We think everyone in research support has a role to play in supporting good data management, so come and join us to learn more, and see how much you know.

Happiness at work requires attention, but where do you start? In this session you will take a close look at your own work situation and formulate specific goals for the coming weeks. Take your first steps towards experiencing more happiness at work!

The conference is about sharing knowledge and experiences. At the poster presentations everyone will have the opportunity to share and ask for input on the topic of collaboration, within not only institutes and faculties but also the different support areas. This workshop will make this easier and more fun. Under the expert guidance of Hermen Visser, you will work alone or in a team with the materials available to produce your own poster. All you need to bring is your knowledge and curiosity.

Within EU Horizon Europe framework program lump sum funding will be rolled out step by step. The aim that the EC has in mind is reducing financial errors and simplification in the justification of grants. But does this really simplify things or are there hidden drawbacks? Michael Schijns of RVO takes us into the theory behind lump sum financing and joins us in looking for answers. During this interactive workshop, extensive time will be taken to discuss together what the impact of lump sum financing will have in practice and what the pros and cons are. After the workshop you will be aware of the theory behind this way of financing and you will have gained more insight into the effect this has on daily practice when carrying out research projects.

Virtually all support staff will at some point contribute to a Horizon project. To get an overview on all aspects of the pre- and post-award processes, we will use the Participant Portal as a guide through the process. In this way, we can learn more about all steps in the life cycle of a project and the ins and outs of the PP. This includes 1) identifying an opportunity, 2) preparing a proposal, 3) starting up and managing a funded project, and finally 4) the closure and audit.

Can I exclude particular observations from my research? Can I use exactly the same data set for multiple papers? Should I agree on a colleague being a co-author on a paper to which she has not made a significant contribution? The Dilemma Game confronts researchers with difficult dilemmas in the context of a critical dialogue, supporting them in further developing their own 'moral compass'. During this workshop we will play this award winning game together.
