Quantitative vs. Qualitative Methods and Tools for New Approaches to Literary Studies
Join us for our next LUCDH lunchtime talk presented by Dr. Carmen van den Bergh on Wednesday, 11 May 2022 at 12:00 – 13:00 (CEST).
Can digital methods and tools help us to answer age-old questions in literary studies from a new perspective? In what sense is the digital world an added value for literary studies? Isn't it very time consuming? And what if you're not that handy with computers? But above all, can one quantify aesthetic interpretations? Is it possible to use algorithms to connect writing styles and authors?
In this lecture, an insight is given in a very introductory way into a number of quantitative and qualitative methods, and how these go hand in hand in the renewal of archival studies, letter transcripts, journal studies and style recognition.
Location: On-campus in the Digital Lab P.J. Veth 1.07 or Online via Kaltura Live Rooms.
