On the 24th of February, the newly founded Medieval Mediterranean Study Group Leiden will organise a symposium to introduce itself to the faculty. The event is open to both students, staff and other people who are interested. The event will host several guest speakers, some online and some will be present in the room. Guy Sanders, the director of the excavations at Corinth, will present his new ideas on chronology concerning late antiquity and the early medieval period. Professor Joanita Vroom will present past research on Butrint in Albania and Mark Driessen will present ongoing research on a Byzantine monastery in Udruh, Jordan. The last speaker is Jorge de Juan Ares who will present his research on Medieval and Roman glass from Iberia. 

The event is both online and on campus. Application is required before participation due to the capacity of the room and the participation link.
