Unwinding your spine: A somatic approach to the spine in motion
Saturday 8 March from 10:00-15:00 h
- Teacher
- Bettina Neuhaus
For whom
For movement lovers of all levels with a curiosity for exploring and embodying movement.
Content
This workshop focuses on the spine as a fascinating living structure in our body that gives you length, support and mobility.
Through playful movement exploration and simple hands-on work we experience the three-dimensionality of this core structure and its endless movement possibilities in relation to the rest of the body. This activates the flow of vital energy within the spine and creates ease and freedom in movement. We find clarity in our gestures and our connection with others and with the space around us.
What can you expect?
- By viewing anatomical images, touching and partner work, you refine your embodied understanding ('your physical experience') of the structure and biomechanics of the spine and what it has to offer you in terms of mobility.
- Through simple actions such as rolling, crawling, walking, etc., we explore how the movement of the spine involves the entire body and enriches our movement vocabulary.
- The quality of movement is paramount in terms of coordination, flexibility and flow.
- There is room for individual, partner and group explorations to experience and integrate the movement possibilities of the spine.
- At times, music is used to facilitate the quality of movement.
Duration: 5 hours (including lunch break; bring your own lunch)
