Graduation
Graduation is an important occasion both for the student and for the University. This is the point in time when a student becomes an alumnus. The University is eager to maintain lifelong contact with its alumni.
Graduation ceremonies
Every study programme and faculty gives its own twist to the graduation ceremony. In addition, a distinction is made between bachelor’s and master’s graduations, and there are group and individual graduation ceremonies.
We have created a short animation film (in English and in Dutch) that you can show during group ceremonies. For advice or help, please contact the alumni office.
Graduation folders
For graduation ceremonies Leiden University has created graduation folders and a congratulations flyer with information about the University’s alumni services. Every faculty and study programme is free to add its own information to the graduation folder.
You can order graduation folders via the SCM department.
Congratulations e-mail
Every student who is awarded a bachelor’s or master’s diploma receives a congratulations e-mail with a video message.
Welcome e-mail
Every month all graduating students receive a congratulations e-mail from the Development and Alumni Relations department. This e-mail also contains information on changes in contact details and the most important alumni services: access to the library and their ULCN account, the activities of the Young Alumni Network, and the Leiden University Mentoring Network.
