Phasing out of Remote workplace (Citrix): these apps will no longer be available and FAQ

A number of applications and services will soon no longer be available via Citrix. In this overview, you can read which of the applications and services will first no longer be available via Citrix. It also specifies the alternative options and FAQ.

Planon is no longer available in Citrix as of Monday 7 April

How can I use Planon without remote workplace? If you are in the office, the best way to log in is by using this URL in your internet browser:

Are you working from home with Planon? Then we recommend that you first log in to eduVPN, then start your internet browser and use the URL mentioned above. 

Microsoft Office will no longer be available in Citrix from Wednesday 9 April

How can I use Office apps without remote workplace? Office is installed on your managed university laptop. On a private laptop you can also work with the Office 365 apps via portal.office.com. You can log in with your university account. Read KI 1612 for more information.

You can also install the Office 365 desktop apps on your private laptop. Read KI 1613 for more information.

Desktops and browsers will no longer be available in Citrix from Friday 11 April

Both the Basic Desktops and the browser desktop apps (Chrome via Citrix, Edge via Citrix) will no longer be available in Citrix.

FAQ

  1. Ensure that you have installed and started eduVPN (see knowledge item KI 1330 on eduVPN in the helpdesk portal). 
  2. Go to the staff website
  3. Log directly on to the tile Self Service
  1. Office is already installed on your managed university laptop.
  2. On a private laptop you can also work with the Office 365 apps via https://portal.office.com (use your ULCN credentials).

If you log on to your managed laptop with eduVPN, the J:\ drive is visible in the file explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). 

The manufacturer has changed the conditions for renewing and using the Citrix contract in such a way that this will have substantial financial consequences for Leiden University. Therefore, we are forced to phase out this application sooner than anticipated.
