Fancy spending three days collecting research data at a festival with over 65,000 potential research participants? And do you have an original research idea? Submit your proposal for Lowlands Science by 27 March 2025!

Festivalgoers as research participants

This year’s interactive science programme at the biggest festival in the Netherlands is set to take place in Biddinghuizen on 15, 16 and 17 August. Lowlands Science is the perfect opportunity to put your research in the spotlight. Over the past few years, all sorts of interesting research projects have been conducted at Lowlands. And researchers from Leiden University were also present at previous editions, with an experimental exhibition on quantum mechanics, a lab for research on virtual trips and more.

Lowlands is calling on researchers from all universities, universities of applied sciences and research organisations to submit a proposal. Festivalgoers get to participate in fun experiments that teach them something new, and you gain data and publicity for your research. You can use the designated Lowlands Science field and find anonymous volunteers for your research among the over 65,000 festivalgoers.

Deadline for proposals

The deadline for research proposals is 27 March 2025. The university can help you submit your proposal and conduct your research and can also help with communications and reporting to gain publicity for your experiment.
